5 Keys To Success In 2018 – Manchester United

Sukhy Singh from Futbol Fanatic Takes a look At Manchester Utd & 2018!

2018 promises to be a year of change for Manchester United. As much as fans pine for the days of Sir Alex, football has changed dramatically in the last 5 years. Super agents are on the rise, state owned clubs are in the ascendancy, as the song goes “the times they are-a-changing”, & Manchester United aren’t changing fast enough. A lot needs to be done in 2018, We’ll look at 5 key points that need to be addressed in 2018:

Catching up with City:

City are the best team in England right now & they have the structure to stay there for the foreseeable future. Having a world-class manager helps, so does having a proactive board. United are playing catch up in terms of recruitment, because they do things the old way, with Ed Woodward in charge of all transfer dealings, while City have a team of experts dealing with transfers. United have taken steps in the right direction, with the hiring of Javier Ribalta, of Juventus & Gerardo Guzman, of Atletico Madrid. With their expertise & nous in the field, surely United will start catching up with City in the transfer market?

Unlocking Paul Pogba’s potential:

Paul Pogba is the glue that holds together the first XI of United, knitting defence to attack. But you always feel there is more to be unlocked and Mourinho must do more to free the mercurial Frenchman on the pitch. A new role in his old position at Juventus in a 4-3-3 is the way to go to get the best out of Pogba.

Deadwood in squad:

To keep it short and sweet, there is a lot of deadwood in United’s squad, players who are either well past their sell by date, or just simply not good enough. Darmian, Fellaini, & Mkhitaryan are surely heading for the exit door.

Mourinho’s contract:

Is Jose Mourinho the right man for United? Are United the right club for a man who wants to battle the entire world? It’s hard to say, but one thing we know is that Mourinho possesses top class pedigree, & is one of the leading managers in world football, a new contract has to be forthcoming.

New faces:

There needs to be some big singings made this summer, a suitable partner for Pogba & Matic & a creative force up front to begin with: Sergei Milinkovic-Savic & Antoine Griezmann anyone?
