The Weekend That Was – EPL Roundup

Burnley 0 -1 Manchester Utd
Martial is getting better and better, as Utd fans were dreaming of a certain Chilean center forward, up stepped Martial, reminding people that he is not the one who will be making space for the ex Arsenal forward. Martial, get him in the World Cup Dream teams if this form continues.

Arsenal 4 -1 Crystal Palace
Arsenal at its attacking best? or Palace defenders having an off day, it seems that the pundits are all saying it was an off day for Palace, bit harsh on the Gunners though, as they raced out the traps and went full “Fu*k Sanchez” mode with some great attacking play throughout the game, are they back ?

Man City 3 – 1 Newcastle
Mike Ashley is not selling, well not for cheap anyway, and if this Newcastle form continues he may be trying to sell a Championship team next season with no Rafa at the helm. Man City bounced back from their first defeat against Liverpool, and it seems that they are now dusted down and ready to roll again, Pep in crisis? For 10 mins at Anfield last week maybe, not now.

Brighton 1-1 Chelsea
2 nailed on penalties turned down? Chelsea showed in Eden Hazard they have one of the EPL’s best players, Chelsea were flattered by the score line as Brighton had 2 good shouts for penalty’s turned down, and Chris Houghton was again left thinking if it is the big teams that get all the close calls.

Everton 1 -1 West Bromwich Albion
Cyrille Regis, got a fitting tribute from both West Brom and Everton fans, with Everton fans singing the legends name, this was a loss for Football and it showed in the emotion shown during the 9th Minute applause. The game highlighted how much work that both managers have on their hands, the highlight the assist from Grzegorz Krychowiak for West Broms goal, the downside, the injury to James McCarthy, the boo’s ringing out for Big Sam were very very prominent.

Southampton 1 – 1 Spurs
Be careful what you wish for Southampton fans, last season they wanted Claude Puel out, and now they want Marco Silva? Southampton really could get dragged into a serious situation if no firm decision is made soon, Spurs had chances to win this game, and after a busy period of games, is strength in depth going to become an issue for the North London team as the season now goes into the business end ?

Leicester 2 – 0 Watford
Vardy, another penalty, another party I guess, Leicester were comfortable for most of this game and Watford very very flat, Marco Silva lost his job after this game, and Watford need to ensure Javi Gracia fully utilities the remainder of the transfer window as this squad needs a lift, as more performances like this and it’s Championship football next season.

West Ham 1 -1 Bournemouth
David Moyes may actually be happy with this result, as it will stop many fans thinking they were ready for the top 6, and it also highlights to the board that money is needed if they wish to see progression under the Scot. Bournemouth will see this as a decent away point, others teams fighting for survival will drop points here, Bournemouth need to ensure that they continue to pick up points on the road to consolidate mid table security.

Stoke 2 – 0 Huddersfield
Paul Lambert, what a start to his journey with Stoke, a vital 3 points at home to fellow relegation strugglers Huddersfield, the passion Lambert showed on the touchline, may have Villa fans scratching their heads and wondering why was that not on display at Villa Park. Huddersfield are on a slide, David Wagner needs to work out how he can stop this as the squad is paper thin and is looking weary!
